Today we awoke in Badong. The day started out with an optional excursion to White Emperor City. We opted not to take this excursion on the advice from our International Guide. We then had scenic cruising on the Yangttze through the two of the three gorges -- Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge.
We then went on an excursion down the Shennong Stream. First we went directly from our ship to a ferry which we rode for about an hour. We then transferred to little wooden boats which held about 15 people. I was on the first row with the guide. They gave us life jackets to put on. Mine only had one place to tie it so I am not sure how much good it would have been.
There were 5 men oaring our boat -- First Captain, Second Captain, and 3 trackers. At one point the 3 trackers got out of the boat and over on the shore. They had a rope that was connected to our boat that they used to pull the boat up the river. This was a way they used to move the boats and I understand that they have some that are naked when they do this. I guess it is because of the heat. I am sure they told us why they were naked, but I don't remember. Ours thankfully were clothed.
After this demonstration we were transferred back to our ferry where we went back to our ship. It was a nice boat ride where we saw lots of pretty scenery.
After back on the boat we had the Captain's Farewell Dinner. It was served Chinese Family style where they put all the food on the lazy Susan and served us that way. The food was just ok again.
After dinner they had a talent show that I attempted to go to. I got bored and left early. I went with Pat to settle her bill and then back to the room.
After back in the room, around 10:30 pm or so we heard a noise and looked out our window and we were already docking. I guess we didn't have far to go that night. We stayed there until the next morning.
