Today was Christmas Day. We started out by eating breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. We set the alarm so we could be there when they opened.
At 9:00 am this morning they had crafts and Christmas carols in the Vista Show Lounge. It was mostly children doing the crafts and they were also the ones singing to us. It was fun watching them have so much fun in there. They were also serving coffee, hot chocolate and egg nog. However, why get it for free if you can go to the Explorations Coffee Shop and buy it. I went up there and had a Cafe Mocha to enjoy as I watched the festivities.
Around 9:45 am Santa's sleigh landed on the ms Oosterdam and came to see us. He had gifts for all the children and had his picture made with each one -- except for the ones that were crying and refused to go near him!
We finally decided to go back to the room about 10:45 am and rest a bit. I am trying to get a cold or sore throat or something so wasn't feeling the best today. I ended up sleeping an taking it easy the rest of the afternoon.
I don't know if I have mentioned lately or not but on the first day our cabin steward said he would like to send snacks to our room and what time would be good. I said that 4:00 pm would be good. I thought it was just one day but they have been arriving like clock work every day -- even those days we are not there. We get a plate of cold snacks and 2 different plates of hot snacks. The hot snacks are usually pretty good but the cold ones are not as good. On the days we get back late from excursions we don't even have time to try them because we are rushing to dinner. Since we didn't have lunch today, we looked forward to having our goodies delivered to us. However, we didn't want to eat too much because we had reservations at the Pinnacle Grill for 5:30 pm.
Dinner at the Pinnacle was excellent as always. They had party favors on our plates in celebration of Christmas. You were supposed to pull on them and make them pop and break apart. I couldn't figure out how to do it so I just tore into it to get my prize out. I had the filet mignon and it was some of the best meat I had eaten in a long time. I wasn't able to eat it all.
After dinner we went back to our room and changed to go to the Hydrotherapy pool. We got there around 7:20 and they told us that they had sent a paper to the rooms telling us they were closing at 8:00 pm on Christmas. We didn't get that notice and I actually think they just decided to close early (they have done that in the past) so we didn't have very long in there but it was relaxing.
We didn't go to the show tonight and decided to call it an early night. Tomorrow we are in Wellington and don't have any excursions booked. We are just planning on going into town and see what is there. There is a shuttle available for $10 per person so we will do that. Krista looked up where the Starbucks is so hopefully we can go there and get free wifi and FaceTime Kylie!
I don't think I mentioned this earlier. The ms Oosterdam holds about 1900 passengers. There are 1400 Aussies, 400 Americans, and 100 other. The Americans are definitely outnumbered!
