Room service for breakfast -- on time.

At our bed and breakfast we fill out our breakfast order the day before and then the next morning we call when we are ready to eat and within 5 minutes they bring it to the room on a trolly.  We had corn flakes and chocolate croissant and coffee.  It was very good.

We decided to take a taxi to the colosseum this morning because we weren't quite sure about the metro.  Well the taxi driver took us so far and then said this is as far as I can go, the colosseum is down there.  Well it looked closer than it was and we were tired by the time we got down there.  It seemed they were having Race for the Cure today.  I thought it was yesterday, but it was today and they had the streets all over the city blocked.

We had a private guide to do our colosseum tour and she was very good.  She also toured us at Capitol Hill and the Roman Forum Area.  She was very patient with us slow moving old people (except for Pat).  The tour took about 3 hours.  The elevator in the colosseum was broken so we had to walk the stairs but we did it.  After the tour we walked across the street and ate a leisurely lunch discussing our next move.  We decided to ride the metro to Trevi Fountain.  Well let me tell you that it looked closer on the map and once we got there it was complete chaos.   A lot of people!  After doing that we wanted to go to the Pantheon and decided to take a taxi.  When we got there -- a lot of people.  There are lots of people everywhere.

After we finished the Pantheon we decided to take a taxi to our hotel.  The Rosga's came along with us to check it out and to rest a bit.  They hadn't decided if they were going to take the train back to their hotel or try to get their hotel shuttle which may or may not show up.  We have a metro right out our door so when they left (in the rain) they went to the metro to go somewhere.  I told them they should go to the Spanish Steps and let Pat climb them.  It is only 1 metro stop away from our hotel.

Mary P and I are in for the night.  We are both exhausted.  Not sure what we will do tomorrow.  We may try and do the hop on hop off bus.  Hopefully some of these crowds will go away!
